The Challenge
The owner had just signed a 5-year lease on a freshly renovated space and needed to furnish the entire dining room — chairs, booths, and tables — within three weeks, before opening day. The design concept was warm and inviting: exposed brick, soft lighting, and a mix of booth seating along the walls with individual chairs at center tables. The catch? A tight opening budget meant the furniture had to look premium without costing premium retail prices. Previous quotes from retail chains came in well above budget, and lead times from overseas suppliers were 10–12 weeks — far too slow.
The Solution
ForRestaurants supplied the full dining room package from in-stock inventory at our Toronto-area warehouse. We fitted the space with 60 commercial-grade wood-frame dining chairs upholstered in a warm cognac faux leather — durable, easy to clean, and on-trend with the Italian bistro aesthetic. Custom L-shaped booths with high-density foam seating ran along two walls, framed in dark wood veneer to match the owner’s millwork. Six 30″ × 48″ solid laminate table tops on cast-iron pedestal bases completed the look.
Total turnaround from first consultation to delivery and setup: 11 days. The owner avoided retail markup by purchasing wholesale directly from ForRestaurants and used the savings to invest in better lighting fixtures. The restaurant opened on schedule to a sold-out first weekend.
